This one was of the most nerve-wrecking crash bars tests yet. Why?

Simply because the DesertX lacks (crash bars) mounting points. Never mind solid mounting points, this new Ducati adventure bike has two good anchor points for crash bars and those two spots are far from each other. Bummer!

We “fixed” this by engineering a large and sturdy mounting system to support the crash bars (and the skid plate). The initial simulation looked good. After mounting the crash bar for the first time the structure felt sturdy. However, it’s a different story when a nearly quarter ton motorcycle torpedoes into the ground. 

There’s only one way to find about the performance: drop the da** thing! The official drop test video is below:
