Let’s just call this a teaser. A short but very dynamic video, full of action-packed content on how I spent most of my time riding my 800GS in 2015.
2014 was a Vstrom 650 year for me. I had owned another one in 2013 that helped me achieve my dream to carry me and Kelli across half the Asian continent and up through the Pamir mountain range. Twenty fourteen was different though. That Vstrom 650 was my full-time test bike that took more than enough abuse to prove that a) Vstrom 650s should not be written off as off-road capable bikes b) it was an opportunity to test our first set of protective armor.
Okay, now about that dynamic promo video…
2015 was my F800GS year and I absolutely love this bike. With the right tires (Mitas E-09) it feels like an absolute beast, like a dirt bike on steroids! Of course, it took some time to get used to the parallel twin engine but it didn’t take long.
This video contains footage from pretty tough rallies like the Roaming Rally by Gravel Travel (www.GravelTravel.ca) and the Rock Hound Rally by Rally Connex (www.RallyConnex.com). The video also features footage from an abandoned sand pit that is an ideal play ground for all sort of off-road vehicles and presents steep, gnarly hill climb, foot deep sand dunes and a two feet deep waterhole.
I have to thank my friends Jeff and Chris for the outstanding photo and video job they did. It looks like they will be on board for more adventures this year as we will try to document three days of the Roaming Rally in May 2016. It should be a blast.
