It has arrived! It’s here! And it’s hotter than ever.
A KTM – seemingly – is something people either like or dislike. The design is non-conventional, rather extreme lately. Other than that KTM is known for its performance, regardless of the model.
The newest model we have just acquired can produce up to 160 horse powers! That’s clearly way too much for most riders, but it sure is something to brag about.
Specs aside, we’re very impressed with the new KTM 1290 Adventure R. The biggest and most noticeable change is the low hanging fuel tank. It’s very similar to the fuel tank design of the KTM 790/890 Adventure.
Another thing is the myriad of electronic features! It’s likely the most we’ve seen featured on an adventure bike just yet.
Our job however is to improve upon the functionality of the KTM 1290 Adventure. In the video below we sum up the proposed products:
Just received skid plate for my 2020 1290, but no instructions or video found for install. Can you refer me to a video or website for installation?

I’m looking to purchase an 3rd generation 1290 Super Adventure S as soon as they arrive in the Pacific Northwest (of the USA). I would very much like to have better crash protection – in the form of an Outback MotoTrek upper & lower crash bars, and frame mounted skid plate. I’d rather rather not have to replace the center stand that comes with the bike to do it, unless there were a truly compelling reason to do so.
