The majority of the emails we receive about crashes and feedback on our crash bars is off-road related. Once in a while though, some pretty nasty ones happen on asphalt roads. Ouch.

Blaming the tires, wind or other elements doesn’t help. Maybe mentally. Certainly won’t fix your motorcycle. The best thing you can do is always be prepared. Have you heard of ATGATT? It stands for All The Gear All The Time.

Our customer and the subject of this blog post made the right choices. He equipped his bike with top notch protection (not to sound too biased!) such as Outback Motortek’s Triumph Tiger 800 crash bars and Barkbusters handguards. His choice of human armour was Klim apparel and Shoei helmet.

Here’s the full story from the man and survivor himself:

ALL THE GEAR, ALL THE TIME. For you and your bike. I had my first real OFF today on the Triumph Tiger 800XCX. No one’s fault but the road and my own. I hit a parallel upheaval of broker asphalt in the center lane and the front tire went right… and the rear tire went left. I hit the ground around 40-45mph! The bike pirouetted away from me (making a noise that will haunt my nightmares for years), as we both slid down the road. Now, possibly the only three people in a metropolitan city NOT on their phones… stopped evenly in all three lanes… and kept me from being run over as the bike and I came to a stop. A good 40-ish yards down the road. If you ride, know that the protection I put on both myself and the bike is the reason that today is a good day.. Scratches and breaks on gear is what it’s there for.

Then he added: “Here are some of the shots of the “incident”. Outback Motortek, I can’t tell you how impressed I am with the crash bars!! They earned their name today and performed better than I ever could have imagined.

Well, we’re so flattered!

So, there you have it! Another happy Outback Motortek customer and motorcycle addict.
