I can’t deny it: combo packages are a hot commodity. For our customers it saves money and the headache on trying to fit different brands and products on their motorcycles.
Folks email us on the daily basis whether their “XYZ” brand crash bar will fit the Outback Motortek skid plate or vice versa. In some cases it does but sometimes it doesn’t. Hence a lot of riders just go for the Outback Motortek combo package and don’t risk running into incompatible product fitment.
The other notable feature of our combo packages is the savings you get. On average you can save about $50 but some of our combo packages allow you to keep an extra $130 in your pocket or on your credit card! Spend that on gas and ride as far as you can.
I’ve owned two Vstrom 650 models, the first one took me and my wife from Kyrgyzstan to Europe and the second one served our adventures on the American continent. Therefore, I’ve decided to give our most popular Vstrom package the priority this week: Bronze Level Combo.
This package offers vital and ultimate protection for your Vstrom 650. It’s been truly tested, beaten, abused and have been perfected throughout the years.
Crash bars: nothing like other products on the market. It’s beefy and compact. We didn’t try to cut corners on the basis of “it’s just a Vstrom”. That’d be so unfair to treat such a legendary bike like that.
Following are the features but not limited to:
- Hand MIG welded – it means that these bars have permanently and ultimately become one single piece even though it was initially three separate tubing. MIG produces the strongest weld possible to keep these tubes together in case of crashes.
- Quality 27mm/1.06″ steel tube with 2mm wall thickness – any low quality steel tubing BELOW THESE SPECS will be crushed when your 450lbs bikes crashes into the ground. Gravity can be a real pain on fragile objects. Our crash bars will take the beat!
- Less is often more. We didn’t try to cover the whole entire bike with crash bars that look like a cobweb. The Vstrom 650 models have very few tough mounting points, thus it makes more sense to create one solid and compact crash bar that stays close to the few mounting points instead of being far spread out that results in an overly flexible and “soft” structure. It will do more damage to your Vstrom or Wee! Our compact and tough crash bars are the only way to go here to truly protect your Suzuki’s expensive and fragile parts.
- Tough mounting points – No cutting corners here (either)! Precision laser cut pieces for perfect fitment using 4mm thick metal mounts. These parts absorb a lot of impacts from crashes, rather than your bike’s chassis that’s worth thousands of dollars.
- Stainless Steel Hardware – These bolts and nuts will always and forever look nice and shiny. Unless your bike is covered in mud and dust…
- Sandblasted to achieve the best possible adhesion of the coatings – it’s an extremely vital part of our manufacturing process. Sandblasted surfaces will withstand most surface scratches and give you a longer-lasting product.
- Powder coated – combined with sandblasting it’s a killer combination to protect your product’s surface. No frills and tough just like your ADV/Dual Sport bike!
- Tested, tested and trusted – The Outback Motortek crash bar have been put through so many real tests in the bushes: multiple day rallies, weekend off-road rides and sometimes just intentional crash tests.
Skid plate: I just call it the Langar II. This skid plate was named after a very tiny town on the Tajik and Afghan border we visited 3 years ago on our Central Asian adventure. This town is tough to reach if you’re coming from China direction (like we did) due to it’s unforgiving terrain. But once you reach the town of Langar, you can relax. I believe this skid plate would serve as a serious and ultimate armor, should you wonder on such road.
Features:
- Protects crucial areas of the engine – oil pan, engine case, oil cooler, oil filter and exhaust header! That’s a long list of very expensive parts to expose to any sort of damage that will reduce your bikes value in no time.
- Uniquely designed vent system – Not only unique but very-well thought out. No unnecessary holes were designed on this bash plate. As a result, your engine will less likely to overheat when mud and all sorts of debris from offroading fly at the engine and get stuck between the skid plate and the engine/exhaust header. Another tip: real skid/bash plates come with very few or no holes at all. Why? It could weaken the structure. Again, when you ride a 450-500lbs bike and hit a hard object, don’t expect a skid plate that’s full of holes to provide any protection for your engine and its components. - True offroad and adventure shape – What does that even mean?? It means we have experience in building top-notch bash plates. We avoid designing skid plates that are shaped like boxes, have sharp edges and corners and will guaranteed to restrict your rides off road. Ours are more, per se, aerodynamic and will glide over and gently bounce off any object on your favorite trails.
- The only known design with ridges on the bottom of the skid plate – Ridges help the skid plate glide over hard objects with the least resistance. Most importantly though, these embossed ridges will REINFORCE the bottom of this bash plate without adding unnecessary weight. - 4mm thick laser cut aluminum – Nothing is ever an overkill on an adventure bike, hence we choose to build our bash plates from this ridiculously tough and thick, yet lightweight material. Since we reinforced the bottom of our bash plates where it could get the most and toughest impacts, there’s no need to use anything thicker and heavier and charge even more.
